Winter is Here

Winter
Look at the view outside my window. Lol…i wish.

Brrrr….*shivers*…winter is here finally. At least that is what the paper says.

Yesterday was one of the coldest weather I have experienced so far in Auckland. It was cold I tell you. I was wearing a thermal(a very thin layer cloth but can keep your body warm), a long sleeve tshirt and over it a normal tshirt and the last layer, a jacket. And it was still bloody cold.

Everyone was caught off guard as the weather changed all of a sudden. On Sunday it was fine. A tshirt and a jacket is sufficient. But on Monday it was a different story. The paper wrote that the weather was 10celcius yesterday with winds up to 80km/h. The weather here is unpredictable. I guess it will be colder soon and I hope I can survive.

Anyway this is so unfair. My 21st birthday I got to celebrate it in New Zealand without my good friends(heck no celebration also). So potong stim lar!

Yesterday was Weng Yew’s birthday, today one of my Malaysian friend birthday, then Pamela and Sim Miao my housemates both turning 21 on 4th and 7th June. Wai Yee and Chee Foong 21st birthday too in March. ALL no celebration….apalah!

I don’t care ..WE ganti balik on our 22nd birthdays since the gang is spread across the world. WE must all have parties when we turn 22 in 2006. Celebrate kao kao k? until then …..

Happy 21st Birthday Weng Yew!

Wengyew
Clockwise: Penyu, Weng Yew with some pretty girl ( forgot her name )@my house, Poser Weng Yew ( ooo…i like)@OUG , Laughing so happy@murni

Happy 21st Birthday !! Mr Lim Weng Yew!

I just want to wish Happy 21st Birthday to my man, Weng Yew@nigga@penyu. Haha…Hope all your dreams come true and all the best in life man. Enjoy.

Known this guy since primary school. It has been about 12 years of friendship now. I can still remember that his the one that made me stop training and playing badminton in standard 3. Back then, I’ve joined this badminton competition that was organized by our school(SRK La Salle PJ) and wanted to test how good I was.

Guess what? My first opponent was him. Mr Lim Weng Yew. He was one of the good players in school at that time I can remember, together with Andrew, Ahmad Fakurazi(I forgot how to spell his name) and a few more. I was kinda nervous, but was confident I can give a good fight if I give it my all.

The result in the end was:

SET 1: Weng Yew  vs  Darren
                    15    -       0

SET 2: Weng Yew  vs  Darren
                    15    -       0

Now you know why I decided to stop playing badminton..*geram*

Anyhow it is good memories, good memories. Can remember this guy is one of the fastest sprinters, I always get tagged when playing kejar-kejar with him. We both later went to the same high school (SMK La Salle PJ) too. Most of the gang from primary school went to the same high school too, that explains why we are so close to each other, like brothers as we always sleep with each other and stuff, play backside all…hahah kidding …whatever in orange did not happen.

Anyway man I hope you have a great life ahead and you are official legal to do anything. HAHA..can officially go to Genting Highlands to see your father, Uncle Lim. LOL..anyway man ..hope you find the special someone too…don’t be so picky and everytime give the same reason say want to see first and stuff! Make a move already!

And to all the single pretty girls out there reading this, please (x100) don’t be shy and I really hope

Hail Reds!

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

The match this morning was one of the greatest finals in Champion’s League history and I watched it all infront of my computer screen! HAha you guys didn’t know you can do that rite? Where have you guys been? A little slow rite?

I woke up around 630am today. Brush my teeth, wash my face, grab my jacket and went down to the common room downstairs. Set up SKY(satellite tv) and turn it on. Only to see that there is no signal received by the decoder because of bad weather. WHAT THE F**K! I thought it only happens with ASTRO! Bloody hell! I wake up for nothing? SHit……
I went back up and had my breakfast while watching news. There was an update on the match. AC MILAN defender Paolo Maldini scored the first goal in the first minute. I was like…damn…there goes liverpool. After eating and hanging around…again I saw the news update..AC MILAN was up 3 - 0 at halftime with 2 goals from Hernan Crespo. By then I thought to myself, I think I should resume my sleep….no way they are coming back…from this…

Reds

Just for curiousity, I went online and checked the score at soccernet.com. There was live commentary and I clicked on it and you can actually see the progress of the game. HOw cool is that …as the game progresses …I saw that Gerrard scored a goal. Then few minutes later…Smicer scored one outside the penalty box…then later yet another one by Alonso! I was like F**K!! This game is freaking exciting !! I woke up for nuts…can’t watch it on tv but only could watch it over the internet staring at the screen for more than an hour.

Live
In the end, the game went into penalties before Jerzy Dudek making some impossible saves in extra time and 2 more in the penalties. Who said Dudek was lousy. I always liked him. All in all, it was one of the greatest match I have watched, not Live on tv but live on the internet. Somehow miss ASTRO…but it was great cause I was talking with Lim Cheong and also Chee Foong on MSN throughout the match. Congrats LIVERPOOL! …….damn MAN UTD…stay up for more than 2 hrs and they lost..Arsenal Sucks!

Birthdays

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

Everyone is celebrating their 21st birthdays already. Reading some of the post that Adrian and Jas wrote make me feel sad. =(

I’m going to be 21 this year and it is going to be soon. Hehehe this post is sort of a reminder so that you guys can save up and buy me presents. Lol. Just kidding. I just feel that it is kinda sad cause I will be celebrating it like alone in a foreign land. I mean of course I have made nice new friends but it would be even more meaningful if you could celebrate it with your old friends back home. Nothing big, but just like in the company of people you know well and feel real comfortable with. Just joking and having laughs together. But I guess you don’t always get what you want in life. So you got to deal with it! but you turn 21 once in your life only!! hhahhah nothing big really actually for me..

So anyways as you guys know that I am quite a cry baby. HEHE for those who don’t know, YES I AM emotional. My friends would know when I hug each of them at the airport with tears running down. But too bad no proof …except …the video that CHRISTOPHER took and those who was there. I guess you guys never see that side of me before. It was pretty emotional. I was still crying when I was in the plane……alright alright…laugh all you want….but it is hard.

To leave those you love, those you are so comfortable with, those you know almost your whole life…it is something that is hard and i thought I was stronger than that but I’m not. The first week was like crazy for me. You will feel like…why am i here? With no friends and all on your own. I can tell you it is crazy. But after awhile you learn to adapt, make new friends, do things on your own, do groceries, cook, wash clothes, look for job and everything. To tell you the truth I think this is one of the best life changing experience. If you have the opportunity go for it. I really thank my family for giving me this opportunity. From now on, I can tell you that I can survive on my own anywhere in the world.

For those who have doubt of going overseas, my advice go for it! and for those who have been in a foreign land, do take some time to help those who are new. You don’ know how much it can help them but by saying that they need to help themselves too.

Sorry guys…don’t know why my entry a little messed up with the topics today…i guess it is the flu that is affecting me. Anyway got to get some rest and HAPPY 21st to all people born in 84. Enjoy.

First and Last

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

The first day of my work the other day could be last for me.

I got a call from my employer two days back and he told me that the place that I was going to fill in was not available anymore.

Apparently, the person that I was supposedly going to take over has decide to stay on and work longer. Therefore there isn’t much hours for me to work anymore. *sighs*. So I will be on standby or in other words just a subsitute.

No free foods, no free drinks, no pretty waitresses, no macho Darren, no money…looks like I’m going to end up like him.

Beggar http://www.nanon.org/no2/pictures/funnypix/Beggar.jpg

FYI, i don’t do drugs and hookers….I drink once in awhile. =)

First Day of Work

Saturday, May 14th, 2005

Recently I’ve applied for a part time job at Wagamama. What a name for a jap fast food restaurant. Anyway yesterday was my first day of work. I was pretty excited as this was my first time working abroad.

As usual I reached to work early, changed into my white chef uniform and put on my blue songkok/ kopiah cap on and was ready to go. So i reported to one of my supervisors and waited eagerly for orders.

I guess today was my lucky day. The dishwasher was not at work today. Probably his day off I think. SO guess what??! I took over his place! At first I was like, Oh shit! Then i thought it won’t be that bad afterall because there was like those spray hose kinda thingy to spray at dishes, then u put them on a tray and push it into the dishwasher. That is kinda easy to do.

When I started to think it was easy, I was so wrong. Spraying the dishes was alright but the water was like hot. And you have to work in a fast pace. The dishes comes in non stop I tell you. I started at 4 till 12 midnight. I was washsing plates, bowls, cooking equipments, knifes, miso bowls, cutleries, pots, and so on. It was hell. My hands are crumpled, feel burned constantly and my legs are like broken. When I have a chance to take pictures I will show you guys what I’ve been thru! After the restaurant’s closed. There was MORE washing. All the equipments, cooking stuff, ventilation filters, walls and so on. IT was crazy…but it was a very good experience.

My working place is not that bad actually except the dishwashing part. Anything except the dishwashing. But what do you expect when you work in a kitchen? You have to do everything. But I’m not complaining though. It teaches us how to appreciate money more. It doesn’t come easy. So be careful how u spend your money. Working here has its advantages though:

1. Free food and drink - Nice meals, I must say. The chef cooked me a fried rice and it was super yummy. Got big prawns, chicken, egg, mushroom in it. Damn feeling. Actual price NZ$ 15 bucks. You can get free drinks from the drink counter when you are thirsty. Every now and then there will be extra orders, so they won’t keep the extra food cause it loses its freshness. So free food again for me!

2. Hot waitresses. I think 90% all hot, hot, hot. Eventhough washing dishes sucks, you can wash your eyes constantly as well. Generally the people here are all friendly and cool kinda ppl. All got tattoos, including the waitresses and kitchen staffs.

3. Become more macho. I tell you, everyone working here are all well built. Not as in muscular. But after work when they change, I tell you all muscle one…lean n mean bodies. I WASN’T PEEPING OR ANYTHING AR! So I think I can toughen up too by carrying heavy pots and stuff….hopefully i don’t grow shorter or something. HAHA

4. Can’t think of anymore advantages, besides making new friends. So i guess that sums up my work place.

After work my legs felt like they were broken. Treated myself with some chocolate milk shake at McDonald’s while walking back home. On the way, I have to walk up a killer hill somemore before reaching home and slept like a baby till around 1pm today.

I will be posting pictures in my future entry of my work place. So stay tuned!
