If not I fail lor…

Lunch Party

Sunday, June 19th, 2005

I was at a lunch party on Saturday. It was real fun. Once in awhile have some crazy fun. =)

Group1

Here is a group picture of the whole gang.

From left: Won, Noriko,Apistha,Kimberly, Aki,Ryoko & Me. There was 3 Japanese girls, a Korean guy, a Thai guy and two Malaysians.(me & kim)

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

If I tell you that I only know them on the day itself would you believe me? We are almost stangers and we were able to have fun and share so much. We don’t come from the same universities and the age gap is pretty big too. But don’t we all look young…look like same age…except me of course. Lol.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

How on hell did me and kim ended up in a party that we pratically don’t know anyone in it. Here is the story…Me, Kim and my Fijian Friends were at a rugby game. We were watching the All Blacks taking on the Fijians. And I tell you the All Blacks slaughtered the Fijians.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

They won 91 - 0. Oh…so sorry back to the story. We were waiting for the bus home and it didnt turn up. So we decided to take a cab home but there was 5 people. So we got to take those taxi vans. When we were about to get up, there was this two japanese girls that stop us and asked us whether they can join the five of us. There was two spaces left so…why not? They were so thankful that they got to share the cab with us as the stadium is located at a isolated area. Those two were Aki and Ryoko.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

So that is how we ended up at the party. Strangers inviting strangers to parties. You won’t get this back home. You would be afraid to even attend it. We don’t even know your background or even if your names were true.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

Anyway we had fun, we ate, we drank beer & wine, we played cards, we chat, we talked about culture, we ate ice cream and etc. It was real fun and a good experience for me ..and everyone else for sure.

Surprise!!

Monday, June 6th, 2005

This is the face that summarizes how I feel on the 2nd June.

Overallhappy

For those who are still wondering why I was so happy on that particular day is because a certain someone came to visit me.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

The story starts like this. I was supposed to pick my best friend’s friend, Ai Ling and her mom from the airport. She will be studying in Auckland and she will be staying at the student apartments just next to mine. She was also bringing stuffs for me from home. e.g jackets, shoe and spices.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

She told me to pick her up at 10.00 am (malaysian time) so that will be around 2pm in New Zealand. So I decided to wake up around 10 to have my breakfast and get ready to go to the airport. As it was my first time going to the airport alone and I’m taking public transport over there. So earlier better lar.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

When I woke up at 10am, my handphone rang. It was a sms. I was thinking to myself "don’t let this be Ai Ling". She might have got the arrival time wrong and she is already here. I read the sms and it WAS AI LING. She have already arrived and waiting for me.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

I put on my clothes, grab my jacket, rush to the toilet, brush my teeth, wash my face and zoom out to the main road near my place. I ran to the nearest bus stop and waited for the bus that goes to the airport. I was like, this is bad…this is bad…I’m late. I never like to be late. Furthermore people come here for the first time and help me to bring my stuff over and I make them wait.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

As I waited for the bus, I tried to sms back Ai Ling. The message was not sent because I ran out of credit. WHAT A TIME TO RUN OUT OF CREDIT! I was like FUCK! When the bus arrived, I was so relieved. Half way through there was a call from Eugenie(I gave Eugenie’s no. just incase Ai Ling cannot get me). She said Ai Ling has arrived and she is waiting for me in McD. I was like aiyohhhh shit lar…so late already.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

As the bus reached the airport, I ran and ran towards the arrival terminal and looked for McD. I was looking for a young girl with her mom and I could not see them. As I look somemore, I saw my bag. My blue bag that I told my best friend to bring for me. The girl sitting there has her back facing me. So I thought to myself that should be Ai Ling. Where is her mom anyway? Maybe she is walking around the airport or something since I made them wait.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

As I approached the girl and got ready to ask her whether she was Ai Ling. I saw a face that is oh so so so familiar.

Airport

Yes! My best friend, Kimberly is here! She came here for a holiday and also here to celebrate my 21st birthday with me. How sweet of her!! She planned this all along since February. I was just so happy, speechless and I needed to sit down. And then…….you can see my second reaction below..

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

Lies

Then I realized. All my friends back home knew about it. Even friends in New Zealand. Eugenie knew, Pam(my housemate) knew, my whole family KNEW and more. I was the only dumb ass that have no idea at all. Everything make sense now. The night before, Chee Foong and Lim Cheong make me suspected something was wrong. But I didn’t know what was coming. I thought that they might have got me some presents or something and Ai Ling was going to give it to me when she arrived. They told me not to be too suprised. Chee Foong even asked me to take some pills incase I get a heart attack. All the lies and betrayal I have to go through. But this is really really a memorable 21st birthday from you guys. I must admit that it was god damn well planned surprise. I thank all of you that took part and I will come back and kick all of your asses. Kidding. Muaks..Love u guys.

God Loves You

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

As I was queuing up to pay for my groceries yesterday, there was this lady behind me with only 2 items in her hand. And I have around 15 items in my trolley.
I politely said to her:

Darren: You could go first.
Lady: Oh it’s okay
Darren: But you only have two items.
Lady: Are you sure?
Darren: Yeah, yeah.
Lady: Thank you.

So we continued to wait in line.

Then she suddenly turned back to me and said:

Lady: Did I tell you? God loves you.
Darren: Ohh……Hmm….Thank you. *smile*

Httpwwwcampusterrassaupcesassociacionsgb
image from: http—www.campusterrassa.upc.es-associacions-gbu-images-jesus.jpg.jpg

After that she asked me where am I from and so on.

I felt so weird when she said god loves you. I felt so strange. Maybe because I don’t really have a religion. I can’t even remember when was the last time I went to a temple or even prayed.

I do believe that there is a god. No matter if you are a Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim or what so ever it is all the same. They teach you the same thing, all the good stuff. So I guess it doesn’t matter what religion you are.

But there is one thing I don’t like about religion is the people. Those who think that their own particular religion is better than the other and try to convince or even force you to follow their religion. That is bad.

I have nothing against religion and if I offended anyone I apologize. And please don’t give me talks about god and stuff. If there is a god, I will eventually find my own way to him. Thank you.
